European Commission kicks off MiCA review — stablecoins, DeFi and staking in focus

The European Commission has opened a public consultation on updates to the MiCA framework, Crypto Briefing and Bitcoin.com report. It's a broad review of the rules for stablecoins, decentralized finance (DeFi), staking and tokenized assets.

Among the most contentious points are a possible ban on interest on stablecoins as well as expanded oversight of DeFi protocols — areas where MiCA in its current form leaves clear gaps.

The consultation shows how fast the digital asset field is evolving — and how Brussels is trying to keep up without losing its grip on financial stability.
